Over 78,000 people have been displaced in Aleppo

Based on the latest figures of IOM, more than 78,000 Syrians have been displaced in Aleppo province in the last 3 weeks. Over 50,000 of them headed towards Azaz/the Turkish border to seek a safe haven.

“One country, or even one region, is not capable of addressing all the humanitarian needs and solving the crisis on its own. It is imperative that the global community comes together to effectively and efficiently respond to the humanitarian crisis and to address the root causes of the mass movements of internally displaced people and refugees,” (Lado Gvilava, IOM Turkey Chief of Mission)

Meanwhile the war goes on with no end in sight and more and more parties taking part in it …more and more civilians are dying….far away from any peaceful solutions…

Thousands of Syrians are fleeing from Aleppo

As the peace talks in Geneva were  suspended and the international donor community just met during a big conference in London, the attacks on civilians in Syria continue. Thousands of people fleeing the heavily bombed city of Aleppo towards the Turkish border.

„A huge military offensive this week severed the main rebel supply route into Syria’s second city of Aleppo in a move that could change the momentum in the five-year civil war. (…) This included attacks on hospitals and critical infrastructure, he said, and the target was ‘overwhelmingly civilians’, who had been forced to ‘desperately flee this aggression.'“

This is 110 km away from where I am sitting right now – in safe Gaziantep…this is intangible….
